Carla Damato
About the Artist
Carla D’Amato’s artistic path was sparked early by a formative encounter with Argentine master Benito Quinquela Martín, an experience that ignited a lifelong exploration of graphite, charcoal, and the expressive power of materials. Shaped by living across cultures and refined through years of study and practice, her work reflects a balance between technical rigor, architectural sensibility, and a deep curiosity about the human condition. Through sustained research and experimentation, D’Amato developed her own authored technique, Performance Painting—a practice in which gesture, movement, time, and material merge into a living visual language. In her work, the image moves beyond physical form, acting as a gateway to layered emotional states and unseen forces that influence how we move through the world. Each piece holds traces of action and presence, revealing not only what is seen, but what is felt and remembered. Timeless yet unmistakably contemporary, D’Amato’s work invites viewers into an open-ended dialogue, allowing space for personal interpretation and an active relationship between artwork and observer. Her pieces are held in private collections internationally, and she has earned recognition through participation in leading U.S. art fairs including Art Wynwood, Art Miami Context, Art Palm Beach | Modern + Contemporary, and LA Art Show—cementing her position within the contemporary art landscape.
