Débora Sánchez Viqueira

About the Artist

Débora Sánchez Viqueira was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she studied Interior Architecture and Design before moving to Madrid, Spain, in 2002. Since then, she has built a distinguished career as both a designer and visual artist, developing a practice defined by material sensitivity and the dialogue between space, form, and texture. Her relationship with drawing and painting began early, nurtured by workshops with renowned Argentine masters who instilled in her a passion for experimentation and craft. This curiosity naturally extended into design, where she explored the intersection between artistic intuition and architectural structure. In 2002, she co-founded a design company in Madrid, serving as Creative Director, and began producing textile collections that merged fine art and design. Her work was presented at leading international design fairs including Maison et Objet (Paris), ICFF and BDNY (New York), and Salone del Mobile (Milan). With over 25 years of artistic exploration, Sánchez Viqueira’s work has evolved from early expressionist beginnings into the realm of abstract expressionism, where her design background remains ever present. Her paintings, whether on canvas, wood, or paper, reveal a deep attention to texture and relief—surfaces that emerge and recede like architectural spaces. Through collage, digital art, acrylics, pencils, and watercolors, she captures the rhythms of nature and the emotional resonance of color, whether bold or subdued. Her art has been exhibited widely across Spain and internationally, with notable appearances at Estampa Contemporary Art Fair (Spain), Art Montpellier (France), the International Contemporary Art Fair (Monaco), Santa Catalina Place (St. Petersburg, Russia), and during Miami Art Basel Week (United States). Sánchez Viqueira continues to live and work in Madrid, where she seamlessly unites art and design into a visual language that celebrates balance, materiality, and the beauty of the natural world.
